This eliminates potential moulding problems prior to the production of the mould. It also enables alternative mould designs and different polymer formulations to be considered. Flow simulations can also optimise runner systems, predict weld lines, identify air traps, determine sheer stress, determine fill time, predict confidence of fill, clamping force requirements, melt temperatures, gate freeze time, packing time and pressure. The animation shows the perfect gate position for this injection moulded part. The polymer is flowing evenly through the part and completing its filling phase after 2.3 seconds. The blue colour highlights the final fill points of the part that finishes evenly on the outside diameter. This will produce a good quality part with a minimum of distortion. |
